Teambuilding, Recreation & Environmental Education Center

  • In conjunction with Northeast Passage, a program from the University of New Hampshire College of Health and Human Services that is a nationally recognized leader in the provision of innovative therapeutic recreation services, a three phase plan has been developed to expand the offerings at Camp Waban so that broader audiences are able to utilize the facility on a year-round basis
    new bathhouse
  • Phase 1 is the construction of a fully accessible, four seasons, Bathhouse that is LEED (Leadership in Energy Environmental Design) certified in design, construction and operations, which meets today’s environmental and mobility needs, and is close to the beach. This project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2008.
  • Phase 2 would involve the remodeling of the “Commons” building into a four season lodge and program space that would also serve as the program and recreational hub for experiential programs and would engage the community in building handicapped accessible trails through Waban’s adjacent property. Experiential leadership development opportunities would be available through “challenge” elements on the trails such as low ropes and other team and personal development building activities.
  • These trails and our facilities would be available to the public, other non-profits, and to corporate partners who had an interest in leadership development opportunities for their teams. In addition, four season activities such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and boating would be available, complete with equipment that could be rented from the new lodge at the “Commons”.
  • Phase 3 would involve the remodeling of the “Abenaki” cabin into winterized overnight facilities that would further expand program offerings and in conjunction with the Wormwood Conference Center, would provide leadership development, seminar, and conference spaces for corporate partners, community groups, and nonprofit organizations.
