Gifts of Stocks, Bonds, and other Appreciated Securities
The Finance Committee of the Waban Board of Directors maintains a very
disciplined investment policy in order to ensure the safety and longevity of your gift and other investments. In addition to helping support our work, your gift of a stock, bond, or long-term appreciated security can provide you with important tax advantages. The donors of securities are entitled to a fair market value charitable income tax deduction, provided that the security has been owned for at least twelve months. In addition, there are no capital gains or sales commissions that become due when securities are donated or transferred.

Other Gifts
Establishing Waban as a named beneficiary in a planned gift, trust, bequest for others, or in a will is a way of making a difference in an ongoing and sustainable way. Gifts of this nature help create a legacy of support for future generations.

Partnerships with businesses and corporations play an important role in our overall support network. Corporate financial contributions for specific programs or for general support help ensure that our services to children and adults with developmental disabilities have the resources that they need. In addition, many businesses leverage their gifts by participating in employee contribution gift matching programs.

In-kind donations of specific equipment, real estate, goods, and services are another tax deductible way for individuals and businesses to help support our work. Often these gifts fill critical needs and provide resources and opportunities that otherwise would not be available.

Special Events
Throughout the year there are annual fundraising events that donors can contribute to or participate in. These include the Annual Telethon, the Haddock 100 Motorcycle Ride, the Children’s Fall FunFest, and the Art of Transportation Car Show. More information about these events.
