2012 Waban Golf Tournament @ Sanford Country Club, Sanford, Maine 

On September 28, the Sanford Country Club hosted the "Tee Up & Drive 'Fore' Waban's Special Olympians" Charity Golf Tournament. The tourney, sponsored by CGI Benefits Group of Hooksett, NH and MEMIC of Portland, ME, was a great success in spite of the forecasted rain as over 75 golfers came out to raise funds for Waban's athletes.

Armed with umbrellas and hot coffee, participants started up their golf carts and dispersed throughout the golf course, hoping to win one of several special prizes, including a 2012 Nissan Sentra donated by Marc Motors of Sanford for a Hole in One at Hole 16. No golfers were fortunate enough to ace Hole 16, but there were many winners when the game was over. (more)

11th Annual Haddock 100

The 11th Annual Haddock 100 motorcycle event to benefit Waban took place on Saturday, September 8, at the Iron Tails Saloon in Acton. Over a hundred motorcyclists from all over New England gathered to ride a pre-planned route for 100 miles en masse, raising awareness and raising funds for Waban, a non-profit agency based in Sanford, organized to develop and operate programs which promote the general welfare and education of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Each year Waban's programs provide essential support and services to over 1,900 children and adults with special needs throughout York County.  (more)
