SANFORD – On Wednesday, June 5, caring individuals from all over Southern Maine gathered at Waban residences and programs for United Way’s 18th Annual Day of Caring. Generous local companies sent volunteers who took up paintbrushes and shovels, rakes and gardening gloves, wheelbarrows and pitchforks, to give each location a Spring freshening and needed upkeep to look great for the summer season.
Over the past 18 years, United Way of York County has organized and grown the Day of Caring, which happens in the first week of June and offers a great opportunity to put into action the belief that a community is strengthened by bringing its people and resources together to improve lives by improving community conditions. The staff at Waban looks forward to this day each year and has come to depend on the unswerving dedication of the companies and individuals that show up year after year in support of Waban on the Day of Caring.
