Waban Job Summaries

At Waban we offer a wide range of positions to match your education and experience level and provide opportunity for growth. These summaries give a brief description of several of our positions.


Life Works:  Instructors:  Responsible for the overall operation of programs which include Gateway to Community, Steps to Independence, Health and Fitness, and Pathway to Employment.  This position also includes direct care, supervision and implementation of programs, and related paper work for adults with developmental disabilities.

Life Works:  Assistants: General responsibility for direct care, medication administration, supervision and implementation of programs such as Gateway to Community, Steps to Independence, Health and Fitness, and Pathway to Employment.  It also includes program management responsibilities and related paper work for adults with developmental disabilities.

Residential: Manager: As a leader in the home you will work with staff to ensure all consumers receive proper care in accordance with Agency, State and Federal regulations.  Responsible for mentoring and guiding staff, along with scheduling coverage, program safety, budget adherence, performance management, and supervising the day to day operations of the home.

Residential: Direct Support Professional (DSP): Assist individuals who have developmental disabilities with community inclusion and activities of daily living such as personal care, medication administration, hygiene, socialization, recreation and leisure activities under the principles of normalization, integration and self-empowerment in the least restrictive environment.

Residential:  Independent Support Specialist: Responsible for providing personal support to adults living independently including planning and implementing home and community based activities concentrating on needs/desires  that focus on areas of life skills, social skills, medical and behavior management.

Child Development Center: Preschool Teacher: Responsible for planning and implementing appropriate curriculum for preschool children with a wide range of developmental levels, and abilities. In addition to the teaching responsibilities you will also manage all aspects of the classroom and the staff.

Child Development Center: One on One Assistant: Work with teachers and resources at the Child Development Center to provide a highly specialized program for a child with special needs by assisting in planning appropriate group and individual learning experiences.

Family Support Services: Children’s Case Manager: Provide support and guidance to families of children with serious emotional/behavioral disturbances or chronic physical disabilities.  You will work with an individualized support plan that was designed to identify the child’s needs while implementing theirs and their family’s desires/wishes and goals.
